Sinhala Literary Association
The Sinhala Literary Association at St. Lawrence Convent cultivates students’ appreciation and mastery of Sinhala language and literature through creative writing workshops, storytelling sessions, and literary discussions that sharpen expression and interpretation skills. By organizing events such as poetry recitals, drama performances, and author visits, the Association provides practical leadership roles—like editing the annual Sinhala magazine or leading a folk-poetry circle—and deepens cultural understanding and pride in our linguistic heritage, empowering students to communicate confidently, think critically, and connect compassionately with their roots and community.
The Sinhala Literary Association is dedicated to promoting the appreciation, study, and preservation of the Sinhala language, literature, and culture. They take the initiative in organising the Sinhala Day and other language-related competitions at a school level.
