The Debating Club at St. Lawrence Convent has been revitalized with fresh energy and a renewed sense of purpose after several years of silence. Recognizing the importance of a platform to nurture critical thinking, articulate expression, and intellectual creativity, the club resumed its activities in September 2023 with a well-structured programme. Focused on empowering students in both English and Sinhala debating skills, the club encourages confident public speaking, respectful argumentation, and analytical reasoning—equipping students to express their ideas effectively, engage in meaningful discourse, and become thoughtful, persuasive communicators.
