The Interact Club of St. Lawrence’s Convent was inaugurated on the 27th of March 2018 and chartered by the Interact Club of Royal Institute on the 4th of May, 2018. In its inaugural year, the club worked under the theme “Look Beyond Yourself,” striving to understand and appreciate the importance of everyone’s contributions. The first president, Ushenya Pieris, and the first secretary, Nazla Irshad, played vital roles in leading the club during this formative year. Mrs. Shenika Jayawardana, the teacher who initiated the club, provided essential guidance and support. The years 2021 and 2022 were marked by remarkable achievements for the club,receiving the prestigious Gold Citation Award and nominations for Best Finance Avenue & Best Finance Project. In the year 2022/2023, the club was awarded the coveted Platinum Citation. One of the club’s members even reached the finals of the prestigious “LiveLight” competition. The current year’s theme, “United through Service,” reflects the club’s commitment to fostering unity and breaking down social barriers led by Mrs.Pawani Sooriyarachchi. Interact is a global youth movement under Rotary International, created to inspire young people to serve their communities while developing leadership, teamwork, and compassion. It empowers students between the ages of 12 and 18 to take action through projects that promote international understanding, cultural exchange, and service above self. With clubs established in schools and communities worldwide, Interact provides a platform for youth to express creativity, build friendships across borders, and lead initiatives that make a lasting impact.
The Interact Club of St. Lawrence’s Convent, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colombo Fort and chartered in May 2018, proudly announces the induction of its new Board for the year 2025/26. The Board, led by Int. Amenda Fernando as President and Int. Letisha Wendt as Secretary, was officially inducted at the 8th Installation Ceremony held on the 14th of October. Guided by the club motto “Small Acts, Big Impact,” the new leadership is dedicated to expanding outreach projects, fostering unity among members, and introducing innovative initiatives that reflect both tradition and modern challenges. With this renewed vision, the Interact Club continues its journey of resilience and purpose, proving that even the smallest acts of kindness can create lasting change In celebration of our school’s 125th Jubilee, we proudly organized poetry, essay, and art competitions that showcased the creativity and spirit of our students while honoring the rich legacy of our institution. Alongside these festivities, we carried forward our commitment to service through the “Ditwah Relief” donation drive, extending compassion and solidarity to our fellow Sri Lankans who were affected by the recent adverse weather conditions. We also conducted a few fundraisers to strengthen our outreach, and are already planning more impactful projects in the coming months.
